Reassessed after major expansion

[edit]

If anyone feels like putting in in-line citations, feel free, using the two sources provided, or others. Or, if you have no access to any Reliable Sources, feel free to template the bejesus out of the text with {{cn}} and I will attend to those in my copious free time. ;) Anyway, this Biography of a Dead Person could easily become WP:FA. There is plenty I know of, and can transfer to the text, and I am willing to put in the work. --Mareklug talk 11:53, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Mareklug: First, it is not a good practice to assess your own articles. You list them at WT:POLAND (or WP:BIO), and ask others for assessment. Second, this is not B class by far; this is around C/start class. It has no inline citations. The lead has an unreferenced WP:PEACOCK claim of her being "ne of the most important figures in modern/contemporary Polish literature". The structure is bad - any article that has "synopsis" section is badly structured; I fixed it a little bit but currently her biography is really her medical history... Notable translations section is weird, too, is it intended to list only her works that were translated? Or her translations? Confusing; this should be redone as a regular list of works, with translations into English simply listed alongside, if they exist. I am downgrading this to start for failing multiple B-class criteria: referencing, coverage and structure. PS. Thank you for improving this article from stub to start; if you can add proper inline citations and expand it a bit more, I think B-class is possible. I see in your edit summary you said you are expanding this based on book references; if so please add inline cites with page numbers. Otherwise someone else will have to read the same or similar sources and hunt down which pages this info is contained it. What I often do when faced with such articles is to delete a lot of content and rewrite much from scratch, because it's just too consuming to hunt for info otherwise... so if you don't want your work to go to waste, please use proper footnotes (with page numbers!). Thanks. The next stage will be WP:GAN. I'd strongly recommend you get several GA in your name before thinking of FA. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:17, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Piotrus, I fully realize that there are no in-line citations, after all, I drew everybody's attention to it front and central, and yes, I read the assessment criteria. But that is as I said a matter of putting glyphs into text buffer... I know exactly which bit is sourced by what passage in an RS. And if you look closer, the so-called "WP:PEACOCK" is exactly what the online sources given in external links say in English and Polish -- i.e., the scholarly authors' opinion. As far as not having any FA experience -- did you not see the gold star for an FA on top of my user page? ;) Anyway, I take the downgrade in stride, and it will be a bonafide B in no time. As for translation section, none of her works has ever been translated, as far as I know, as such. All the translations are digests with editorial choices of which poems to treat made by translators. So... I think that section is valid. Because what is listed there is really original works by translators, rendered in non-Polish for the world readers and scholars. Insofar as they are her poems, these are her works, but not really one-on-one renditions of the books published when she was alive. Anyway, thank you for spending time on both the useful instructions and making the article better. Onwards! It will become an FA, just you wite, 'Enry 'Iggins ;) --Mareklug talk 07:03, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

— Z przyjemnością informujemy, że jury nagrody Krakowskiej Książki Miesiąca uhonorowało tytułem Książki Marca 2015 pracę Kaliny Błażejowskiej pt. 'Uparte serce. Biografia Poświatowskiej.' Kalina Błażejowska to młoda dziennikarka, redaktorka działu Kultura i Internet „Tygodnika Powszechnego". Jest specjalistką od portretów twórców, przede wszystkim pisarzy polskich XX wieku. „Uparte serce" to pierwsza wydana biografia w jej dorobku. Halinę Poświatowską znają wszyscy. Czytana w szkole, zaraża (przede wszystkim płeć piękną) miłością i pasją do poezji.

Marek, I wish you good luck with bringing this to a FA. I do suggest you add the inline citations ASAP, before you forget which passage is referenced to what source. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:57, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
